Silks

Most commonly seen in circus shows, it is dance and acrobatics performed hanging from a fabric with two ends flowing to the ground. Performers on aerial silks are most impressive seen suspended high in the air, striking poses, spinning and doing heart-stopping drops.

Level 1

For the complete beginner, this level will cover the basic techniques of aerial silks, teaching students how to safely climb, manipulate the fabric, and execute beginner tricks and sequences i.e footlocks.

Pre-requisites : None!

Level 2

This level will start introducing aerial inversions, basic rolls, drops, and techniques requiring a higher level of body coordination.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 1, or shown ability to comfortably do an aerial footlock and 3 consecutive climbs.

Level 3 / Choreo 3

A bridging level to help students gain confidence in their aerial inverts and hip keys, learning body wraps in preparation for advanced level tricks. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence of similar level moves to a song over the course of 8 weeks to build strength and endurance with musicality.

Pre-requisites: Able to do straddle invert from the ground with little/no assistance.

Level 4 / Choreo 4

Level 4 will have students overcoming their fear of heights through learning silk drops and essential body wraps in the air such as S-wraps, belays and slack drops. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence of similar level moves to a song over the course of 8 weeks to build strength and endurance with musicality.

Pre-requisites: Able to do a straddle invert in the air and hip key comfortably.

Level 5 / Choreo 5 and above

Hoop / Lyra

The aerial hoop is a metal ring suspended from the ceiling, where performers spin, climb and wrap their bodies around the hoop to strike poses, rolls, and even drops! It’s a beginner-friendly apparatus for those looking to start in the aerial arts!

Level 1

Students will learn the basic techniques of creating poses and balances on the hoop, and be able to join them into a sequence by the end of the term.

Pre-requisites : None!

Level 2

Level 2 hoop starts exploring top bar sequences and single-contact moves that will test students’ grip and balances.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 1, or can demonstrate a solid double knee hang and body control dismounting from the top bar.

Level 3 / Choreo 3

This level will start preparing students for more strength-based moves and balances with different body parts on the hoop, such as shoulder stands, hip hangs and Russian splits. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence of similar level moves to a song over the course of 8 weeks.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 2, or can demonstrate an inverted tuck/straddle hang on the hoop comfortably.

Level 4 / Choreo 4

Hammock

A variation of the aerial silks, where the fabric is suspended from its ends, creating a loop at the bottom that performers can support themselves from. Also called the aerial sling or loop, the hammock has been popularised by aerial yoga, and is a great stepping stone and introduction to aerial fabrics.

Level 1 / Choreo 1

Students will learn through a structured 8-week course on how to manipulate the hammock/sling in various grips, wraps and poses, ending each class with a short sequence to practice. Perfect for beginners with no aerial experience at all.

Pre-requisites : None! For Choreo 1, students should have completed level 1, can demonstrate a ground invert unassisted; or with aerial background.

Level 2 / Choreo 2 : Pre-intermediate

This level will start introducing aerial inversions, basic drops and techniques requiring a higher level of body coordination. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence of similar level moves to a song over the course of 8 weeks.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 1, or shown ability to comfortably do a ground straddle invert.

Level 3 / Choreo 3 : Intermediate

The intermediate level will be exploring more hammock inversion techniques and balances. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence of similar level moves to a song over the course of 8 weeks.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 2, or have the ability to do a standing outside leg hook on the hammock.

Level 4 / Choreo 4 : Inter-Advanced

This advanced level will be exploring more complicated hammock manipulations and bigger aerial drops while spinning in the fabric. Choreography classes will learn a full sequence to a song over the course of 8 weeks.

Pre-requisites: Have completed Level 3, or have the ability to comfortably do straddle aerial inverts from standing on the hammock.

Aerial Arts Open Classes

You’ve done the beginner level class. You want to focus on certain moves on the apparatus. You need the flexibility to choose your class timings each week. These are drop-in classes that can be attended separately each week. Each class runs for an hour unless specified differently.

Silk Open

For those looking to expand their repertoire of skills beyond the term syllabus, this drop-in class is for you. Each week you’ll learn a mini sequence or key move on the apparatus, creating new shapes.

This is open to all levels of silk aerialists, the level of the moves learnt for the class will be dependent on the lowest level of the participants.

Silk Drops

Do you like to learn silk drops and the accompanying adrenaline rush? This class will learn a particular drop each week, whether it’s a slack drop, salto, back salto, or even vertical drops and more. Our instructors will break down the drop mechanics for you to learn simply in a safe and supervised environment. This is a drop-in class (pun not intended!) that you can book each week according to your schedule.

Pre-requisites: Students have to be comfortable with aerial inverts and hip key at 3 climb to participate in this class.

Workshops

We’d love to give you the opportunity to learn different aerial arts apparatus, explore topics or themes that will help you grow further as an aerialist on a regular basis. We will invite ad-hoc guest instructors to conduct the workshops for a limited time, or have special programs curated by our very own team! Check out our Instagram for updates on upcoming workshops!

All workshops will have different pre-requisites, duration and possibly prep work. Do check the our Schedule for upcoming workshops and class booking description before signing up for the workshop.

All aerial fit classes are drop-in, run for an hour each, and can be purchased separately as single classes, or purchase our FIT package to enjoy better value rates!

Aerial Conditioning

Aerial arts sometimes require strength in certain muscle groups to execute various moves, and aerial conditioning is perfect for those looking to build strength to advance into higher levels on their aerial apparatus.

Stretch

Feeling that your inflexibility is holding you back, or just feeling stiff all over? Or just can’t find the discipline to stretch at home by yourself? Come join us for an hour to lengthen and stretch those tight muscles to gain more flexibility guided by our friendly instructors!

Open Practice

You just need more time on the apparatus to clean up that sequence or move before your next class. Or you just want to start exploring creatively by yourself. These open practice sessions allow experienced aerialists to practice any apparatus by booking an exclusive aerial point per hour.

Due to the current restrictions on space and capacity limits, there will not be any sharing of aerial points between participants during each session. Maximum 8 pax per session.
